Forbes magazine recently wrote, “Caregiving is Forcing Women 50+ to Leave the Workforce”. In consideration of the fact that the baby boomers are retiring in droves and people are living longer, this is presenting with a huge problem.
The article goes on to say that, “two out of every five adults – tens of millions of Americans – are family caregivers of loved ones.”
Women are generally the ones who end up quitting their jobs to care for the family member. The dilemma is the same as when you have children. Who will you trust to stay with your loved one?
The average cost for a live-in caregiver from a home health agency is about $250.00 a day. Many of these agencies have a “buy out” clause. If you find a caregiver you like you can buy them out of their contract with the agency for a whopping average fee of $7,500.00.
Your other options are to do the hiring process yourself, which is extremely tedious or find someone to do the hiring process for you.
